Research Associate, Vivarium (Job Code #VIVRA)

  • Works cross-functionally with multiple teams within the organization to achieve goals
  • Perform rodent dosing and blood collection to support pharmacokinetic (PK) studies
    • Proficient with intravenous, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal dosing as well as oral gavage
    • Experience with intratumoral dosing a plus
    • Knowledge of rat cannulation a plus
  • Conduct testing of anti-tumor agents in laboratory mice
    • Experienced with a variety of syngeneic and xenograft tumor models
    • Proficient with tumor cell injections; knowledge of orthotopic tumor models is a plus
    • Experienced with surgery procedures and harvest of various mouse tissues
  • Measure tumor size in laboratory mice
  • Monitor health of laboratory mice as specified by supervisors and staff veterinarians
  • Adhere to animal welfare rules and regulations as instructed by supervisors and vivarium managers
  • Light husbandry duties as required
  • Maintain and complete documentation of all study procedures and data in an electronic laboratory notebook
  • Willing to split weekend and holiday hours with peers on a rotational basis
  • Able to perform occasional physical labor involving lifting weight up to 50 pounds


  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related discipline with training in handling of rodents
    • AALAS certification highly desired (LAT, LATg)
  • 3-5 years of hands on experience with laboratory rodents and experience with pharmacokinetic studies and/or mouse tumor models is required
  • Proficiency in the following:
    • Dosing routes (IV, PO, SC)
    • Tumor implantation (SC, orthotopic)
    • Blood / Tissue collections (RO / various organs and lymph nodes)
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Organized and disciplined about record keeping, with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Able to perform occasional physical labor involving lifting weight up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, motivated to excel, attentive to detail, and can be efficient working alone or in a group environment
